China government released the policy of improving payment service quality and convenience to continuously build multi-level and diversified payment system which can provide more efficient and convenient payment services to senior citizens and foreigners in China.

l  Pain Points of Foreigners’ Payment

Bank cards under big-6 payment schemes including UnionPay, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB and Discover take main position of foreigners payment ways. That’s why the Government put most attention on bank card acceptance environment and have taken actions to raise the proportion of terminals accepting global payment cards .

To guarantee the interoperability among terminals and global payment cards, acquirers that deploy terminals shall complete terminal acquiring certifications of corresponding payment schemes.

l  About Terminal Acquiring Certification

Some payment schemes, for example UnionPay, require acquirers to purchase UTVT test tool from qualified lab/tool suppliers, configure test cases based on terminal configuration, deployment scenario and payment network, complete simulating transaction test, and submit the test report and logs to UnionPay for validation and certification.

Other payment schemes require acquirers to submit in-house testing logs to accredited labs for validation and certification. Acquirers may get more information on the details of certification process of each payment schemes by connecting BCTC as the accredited lab or the corresponding payment scheme directly.
