To further standardize the Biometric
recognition interface of Android phones, Google released the Android Q new
generation operating system in September 2019, which added a unified facial
recognition function. So, what is Android Q?
The Android Q system-level face-recognition
function is realized by adding structural light, infrared
and other hardware on camera scanning. According to Google's requirements,
device manufacturers with versions lower than Android Q can prove that their
products have facial recognition parameter performance through
self-certification or third-party evaluation certification. For devices that
support Android Q and above, Google has added "Android Compatibility
Definition Document (CDD)" and "Measuring Biometric Unlock
Security" biometric requirements, and formed Google's facial recognition
algorithm test requirements and detection cases. It requires biometric
recognition of functional products to be evaluated, and it is recommended to
select laboratories with FIDO biometric evaluation accreditation. At the same
time, Google is also considering regularly sampling inspections of products on
the market in the future.
Based on long-term technical exploration
and rich testing experience in the biometrics evaluation, BCTC has formed a
special evaluation proposal following the relevant requirements issued by
Google. BCTC has been officially recognized by Google and has become the first
laboratory in the Asia-Pacific region to provide this service. During the
evaluation, the 2D medium and 3D medium will be used for the presentation
attack. SAR will be calculated based on the results of the attack test, and the
SAR performance will be used to evaluate whether the product meets Google's
requirements.
