Beijing
and Shenzhen Lab of the National FinTech Evaluation Center (NFEC, also
well-known as Bank Card Test Center or BCTC) is newly accredited for EMVCo COTS
Level 1 testing, becoming the exclusive laboratory to perform testing in China.
Commercial
Off-the-Shelf device (hereinafter referred to as "COTS") is a mobile
device equipped with a built-in contactless NFC function. Currently, EMVCo has
launched both certification and testing projects for this product. Compared
with PCD products under traditional EMVCo standards, EMVCo COTS tests need to
use battery power. It is not necessary to display the EMVCo contactless symbol but
declares the device reference center point. Moreover, in terms of performance
parameters, the test height of COTS products during the Level 1 test is only
Z≤2cm.
At
present, EMVCo and PCI have formulated specifications based on mobile POS products
from the perspective of performance and security. China UnionPay also released
the world's first mobile POS product in June 2018. Meanwhile, VISA, Mastercard,
and other payment organizations also launched the self-owned "TAP on
Phone" project and piloted from the market application level.
